Still Thinking of Mikey – A Mother’s Fond Memories

I bought my son a Fisher Price My Friend Mikey doll when he was small, and somehow Mikey disappeared, and we were left with nothing but his little light blue jacket. My own Mikey never cared about the doll one way or the other, but I’ve always been sad about losing the doll and wondering whatever happened to him and hoping some other little boy took him home to love.
I’m not looking to replace our lost Mikey doll. I just want to tell young moms that they aren’t crazy to be looking for their lost lovies and blankies.
Our Mikey doll disappeared around 1982, and I still wonder about him and hope he is well. My own Mikey is over thirty years old now and is a daddy himself. He will now be the one digging through dumpsters and backtracking through town to look for a beloved toy.
P.S. No one needs to look for a Mikey doll for me. My Mikey was about fifteen years old when I found a new Mikey doll and replaced the lost one. So you know who was actually attached to that dolly. Me. And I know that I’m not crazy, for Pete’s sake.
There are several for sale on the internet right now, but here’s the link to the one on eBay in the photo, in case this is a lost lovie you’d like to have again.

DISCONTINUED – Baby GUND No. 58239 Large PINK DOTTIE DOTS CAT
Judith has quit looking for this 16 inch cat, but Kathleen is still looking for the 13 inch version.
We bought my daughter this large Baby Gund Dottie Dots No. 58239 pink kitty before she was born. She has slept with it in her crib since birth. Around 6 months old or so she began to cuddle up to it and rub her fingers on the paws when taking naps, and it wasn’t long before she couldn’t sleep without it. Soon enough it took on the name, “Pink Kitty” and began traveling with us on vacations. Pink Kitty often is a guest at tea parties in my daughter’s room and joins us for meals at our dinner table.
My daughter will be turning 4 in just a couple weeks, and she still loves her pink kitty more than anything. The theme of her party will be kitties and guess who is attending…???…of course Pink Kitty. This kitty is very important to her, and she plays with it every day. We are looking for a replacement, since it has gotten several holes or tears in it over the last year or two. I have sewed it several times and it definitely looks worn due to washing it, too (the dots on the paws are so faded you can hardly see them). Of course, I have to be sure kitty isn’t in the washer when it’s nap time.
I can’t spend more than $30.00 for it, but if you could help us locate a replacement we would be so grateful.

Lonette has decided that this bear is currently just too expensive to be a reasonable choice for their family, but we still have a mailing list of people looking for this bear.
I’m looking for an Eden beige velour bear with a white muzzle and pink and blue halves thermal sleeper. It has green and yellow arms and a blue satin bow.
My daughter has been sleeping with this bear for the past 6 1/2 years and it is disintegrating. She has a lot of nightmares and this bear helps her through the night.

My Apology
I’ve been really reluctant to write this post, but it’s really past time for it. I have had serious health issues for several years now, and as the gatekeeper who deals with all the requests and writes all the posts, as well as relaying almost all comments and emails to the the Searchers, I’ve gotten terribly behind.
I wish I could snap my fingers and be caught up, but it’s going to take quite a while for that to happen, because each day my inbox is filled with more information that needs to be dealt with. All I can say is that I’m doing the best I can right now, and I’m sorry that’s not very good.
All the Fabulous Finders have been so good to help all these people who have asked for help. There’s no way I can thank them enough. I intend to continue working to keep Plush Memories helping as many people as we can. Please bear with me for the next few months, and I’ll work as fast as I can to catch up.
DISCONTINUED – 2008? GOFFA WHITE DOG with BROWN EARS

I have a six year old niece that had this stuffed dog she received from her grandmother about two years ago. It is a plush dog that is a white color with brown ears. It’s about 18-21 inches from snout to tail, made by Goffa Int’l Corp.
My niece was playing outside with it a few months ago. She threw it over the fence in our backyard where an old lady lived. The next day when she told us about it, we went to get it only to find it gone. It turned out that the old woman who lives in the house behind us had thrown it away for being in her yard.
I would really appreciate any help with finding it.

DISCONTINUED – 80′s? Knickerbocker GRAY SPIDER Canvas GLOVE PUPPET
Darlene’s email address is no longer valid. Thanks to one of our Fabulous Finders we now have a photo and the correct brand name. So if anyone else ever asks for help with this one maybe we can be of service.
I am looking for a retro toy. It had a stuffed canvas glove sewn on top, and it looked like a hairy spider you put your hand into. The name of the spider is “Harry”. That’s on one side of the tag. The other side says, “Knickerbocker”. It’s Knickerbocker Toy Company, INC 1980.
I bought one for my son in the 80′s. It was brownish grey, had a beige canvas glove on top, you put your hand in the bottom, but it looked like your hand was in the glove. He always talks about it, and he can’t find one either.
I would like to give him one for his birthday. He is an adult now, works with handicapped children, and is a wonderful Christian, giving person, and I want to do something special for him.

DISCONTINUED – Carter’s BLACK WHITE RED ACCORDION PULL OLD McDONALD
I’m looking for a Carter’s red, black, and white accordion pull cow that plays Old McDonald Had a Farm.
Dolly Isabelle Murphy was born (manufactured) in 1998 for a Carter’s store. She has been at my side since birth, and she has never left. She is the only physical connection I have to my childhood. Over the past few years, she has been losing cotton and thread in the washing machine. She is at the point that if I wash her anymore, she will be torn to shreds.
I have tried to stitch her back to her original form, but her cloth body gets worse every time I try. If I was to lose her, I would be heartbroken. I just want a reminder of my innocence and youth. I still sleep with her to this day.

I am looking for a purple Sparklins bear that came out in the 80′s. When new it had a pink heart necklace.
My niece is 24 and just recently became drug free and is getting her life back together. She had a very rough childhood, and this doll was the one thing she clung to when things got bad.
If you can help me find this again, I know it would make her very, very happy.

I haven’t found an online version of it, but Plush Memories Lost Toy Search Service is featured in an article by Kim Hays titled “Find a Lost Lovey” on page 33 of the July, 2011 issue of PARENTING MAGAZINE!
There’s a precious picture of a baby sucking away on a green lovie, and right below it is an article about US and another site that helps find lovies, lostmylovey.com.

IF We Can’t FIND Your Childhood Lovie – How about a REPLICA or PAINTING?
We still have a mailing list of people looking for this very blankie!
We’ve been able to help several people find this 80′s Knickerbocker 14″ blankie with a white knit SNOOPY dog head and paws in the center. It’s a pastel blue plaid blankie with blue satin binding. There’s a head hole for a puppet, but not in the hands.
But there are other requests for help here on Plush Memories for the precious lovies of childhood memories that we have not been able to find. Sometimes they don’t even have a photo, but can only give us what they remember about their favorite childhood toy. Those are usually the hardest to find, but sometimes even a photo isn’t enough to be able to locate one.
That’s where our favorite crafter and an artist we have recently learned about may be able to help. Susan is an excellent plush animal crafter who can create a replica of a lovie, if you have enough information about measurements and plenty of photos.
But if all you have is a photo, and you can’t give enough information to create a replica…then maybe Jennifer can help. Here’s her portrait of the Snoopy blankie from the 80′s that she painted for someone. Maybe she can help you hold onto the memory of your rapidly disintegrating childhood friend.

DISCONTINUED – INFORMATION about 90′s PUFFALUMP STYLE Set of 3 ELEPHANTS
I’m not searching for a back-up or helping, though I wish I could, but I’m trying to figure out who made two blue elephant stuffed animals I’ve owned most of my life. This is only one of them, because the second one is very old, and you wouldn’t be able to tell what it looks like. This one is closer to the original look, but has been patched up. From the top of the head all the way down the the bottom he’s 12 inches and from the tip to tip of the hands is 11 inches. I’m guessing they were made around 1993 – 1996 ish.
They also don’t look like Puffalumps from when they were created. I know there’s a third one out there in the world that I would actually like to find and give him a home, and I’ve seen someone else with a rabbit that was made exactly like the elephants.
Anyone know of someone who made these knockoff elephants that are like Puffalumps?

DISCONTINUED – Carter’s WHITE RABBIT with BROWN EARS & FEET
We still have a very long mailing list of families looking for this same rabbit.
I’m looking for a Carter’s Just One Year white and brown bunny. The rabbit is approximately 13 inches tall from head to toe. It’s white with brown paws and ears. The eyes and mouth are stitched on while the nose is plastic. There is no voice box or rattle in this little guy, just beans in his feet and bottom. It was sold by Target back in 2009 I believe.
My little girl fell in love with this rabbit and took him with her everywhere. Bunny was always by her side. She has been to the heart doctor every six months since birth and bunny has always been with her to comfort her.
Unfortunately she lost her best bunny buddy on a recent outing. We went back and searched high and low without success. She is heartbroken over the loss of this bunny, and I am desperately looking to replace him. No other toy is comforting her the way bunny did.
Any help anyone can provide to find this little guy is so very much appreciated.

DISCONTINUED – MOSHI LARGE WHITE LAMB with PINK FACE, BLACK HOOVES

I’m looking for a MOSHI large white lamb with a pink face and black hooves. It has a microbead filling, and it’s 17 inches long.I bought this lamb on an impulse buy. Our daughter was 1 year old, and I thought the lamb was cute. She didn’t take to it right away, but that soon changed. It started by taking “Lamie” to the doctor. It made our daughter feel better about going. We moved when our daughter was 3 years old, and she had to start sleeping in a “big” bed in her new room. It was Lamie that made her feel safe. Lamie travels with us and as you can imagine, she has been washed more times that I can count.
Our daughter is now 7 and Lamie is showing signs of severe wear. Our daughter woke up crying one day last week, because Lamie was losing beads (there is a small tear in the face) and some beads fell out and were found in the bed. Tears were streaming from her face at the thought of having to “store” Lamie for safe keeping. I have suggested another stuffed animal but she won’t have it!!!
I would like to surprise her with another Lamie. I know it won’t be the same, but I can’t stand the thought of her being so sad. I appreciate your help with this request.
