, FOUND – Small YELLOW & ORANGE SMILING SUN with HEART SUNGLASSESI’m looking for a small plush sun. He’s about 6” – 7” in diameter, including the rays. His body is made of a soft, yellow fabric and his 12 rays are made of a soft, orange fabric.

His face, which is in the center of his body, is made of something similar to t-shirt paint or flat decals. He has eyebrows, wears heart-shaped sunglasses and has reddish-colored lips that are smiling.

He appears to have very little filling in his body, so he’s pretty flat. He also has a small loop on top, as if he could hang off a hook, if so desired. The tag has disappeared.

My mother-in-law found this sun at a yard sale some time ago. Who knows how long the seller had this sun, so I cannot even estimate its age. My daughter, Priscilla, took a shine to this little sun, and it is her world. ’Sunny’ goes EVERYWHERE with Priscilla. He’s been misplaced, but never officially ’lost’. If or when ’Sunny’ is lost or falls apart, Priscilla will be heart-broken and so will her Mommy.

I have tried to find something similar to ’Sunny’, but Priscilla was too smart for that. She knows and LOVES her Sunny. I have been searching everywhere for another one. If anyone could help me, you don’t know how much I would appreciate it.

  1. Hi Amy. Do you think this could be a bath mitt or toy for washing a child? I just thought it was a possibility because you said it had a loop…which I figured could be used to hang it up to dry or do you think it had the loop to hang it up as a decoration?

    Just thought it might be good to ask to help try other options while we all search.

    that’s a great thought, but based on the soft fabric and the fact that the sun does have a small amount of filling, i don’t think it’s for the bath. the loop is probably just to hang it up for decoration.

    it almost seems like it was a prize out of a machine or maybe a carnival prize or something of that nature. i doubt it’s something that was store-bought.

    My daughter has a small smile face with a hook on it too and it came from a game machine as a prize.

    I’ll start trying to search that way. If I find it I will definately let you know. Hopefully it will turn up soon.

  4. One other thought I had today was that I saw something like this on Oriental Trading Company called What’s the weather soft puppets and a chart for kids.

    I checked there and it is different but I wonder if this sun came from something like that but made by a different company?

    Just thought I would mention it as another way to search. It may be just a toy but what if it goes with something?

    This is just such an unusual item. I’d really like to help you find out where it came from! 🙂

  5. i really don’t know where ‘sunny’ came from or how old he is. he may have been just sitting in that house for a very long time before he was sold in a yard sale…or maybe not! who knows??

    it is very unusual! it’s part of the reason why i think it’s so cute that priscilla loves him soooo much. a small sun?? of all things! although, sometimes i wish she could have found a much more common lovie!!

    I could not believe it when I saw it. I know it is not the same but it was so close that I could not pass it up. I will keep looking for more especially the exact one but at least now she has an close back up. I hope she takes to it as well as her last Sunny. Take Care

    several months ago, you found another ‘sunny’ for me. you don’t know how much, to this day, i appreciate this! even more so, because my daughter’s original ‘sunny’ is lost. 🙁

    i’m so grateful to have a backup…priscilla calls him ‘new sunny’! LOL could you tell me how you located ‘new sunny’. i would like to begin my own ‘new new sunny’ finding mission. i doubt i’ll be lucky enough to find that needle in a haystack again, but it’s worth a shot! if anyone could give me tips and pointers on how to do it, it would be you!
