Linda is also looking for this horse/zebra.
I’m looking for the 1960’s red and white striped Beech Nut zebra. Some people would call it a horse.
My Dad worked as a grocery store manager for over 40 years. The one promotional gift he was able to bring home was the fruit striped gum red and white striped Zebra stuffed animal.
The zebra and I (his name was Peppy) instantly became best friends! He went everywhere with me. He comforted me when my 16 year old brother died of a cerebral hemorrhage. I was only 12 at the time. I often think of Peppy and how much I loved him.
I am now 56 years old, and I have a fabulous 9 year old granddaughter. I tell her stories of Peppy and watch her bond with her “lovies”. I recently started searching for my “best friend” online, but to no avail. I am so hopeful that I may receive the help I am looking for.
These last few years have been difficult for my family. My Mom passed away, and ten months later our 23 year old daughter also passed away. Four months later, my Dad passed away, and six months after that my brother-in-law committed suicide.
I have stayed strong for my husband and children, as my family are the love of my life. There are days though I must admit, I would like the comfort of something I held so near to my heart. I would so enjoy sharing my most treasured memory of my childhood with my granddaughter as well.
Thank you for your time and help to try and locate this stuffed animal.
