Thanks to one of our Fabulous Finders, we now know this is a GUND baboon. But Allison’s email address is no longer responsive, so we have discontinued this search.


, DISCONTINUED – 70’s? GUND WHITE BABOON / MONKEY with Huge ORANGE FACE, HANDS & FEETI lost my favorite toy stuffed baboon/monkey many years ago.

It was a white furry one. Not quite a baboon, but closer to baboon than a regular monkey. It had a white shaggy fur body with a little cap of tan hair on its head.

It had a long projecting orange rubbery face, and orange rubbery feet and hands. She came wearing a little red flower sprigged apron. If you took her apron off, she didn’t look like a girl, actually now that I think of it.

My grandma gave it to me in probably in 1979 or 1980.

You could make it pick its nose or stick it’s thumb in its mouth. It had a pretty ugly grimace on its face, and its eyes were beady blue and hard plastic.

I left it at a friends house and was never able to get it back, and would LOVE to be able to find another one!!!

Please help, as it’s oddly very important to me.

  1. This is so amazingly close to the monkey that I had as a kid growing up. Mine didn’t have any clothes, and was all white except for the exact rubbery face, hands and feet! what brand is this?

    I had one about the size pictured, but my neighbor had one that was huge, maybe 3 feet tall.

    I can’t believe I found this thread! I also had that baboon when I was a kid and it was my favourite toy. It didn’t have a dress so I always presumed it was a boy! My best cousin gave it to me before my family left England to live in Australia and I never saw her again.

    If anyone knows where i can get one now, I would be very grateful. The auctions on eBay to which you refer have ended and/or sold.

  10. I still have mine, but lost the dress. Loved her so much was the only toy I kept 🙂 I called her Pirscilla the Gorilla, lol, glad to see others loved her as much.

  11. My girlfriend and I just found one of these. I stumbled across this website trying to find some info on him. He is a little different as he doesnt have legs, he sits on his butt, and his feet come out from his big red hiney haha. Also all of the other ones I have seen are app 12″ tall. I would guess this one to be 24″. Either way he is cooler than school, and we would love to find out some more info if anyone has any.
