FOUND – 50’s SPARERIBS the SKINNY BROWN DOG — 10 Comments

  1. Thank you for helping me look but the items you posted are not him. I think the name must be a coincidence, as I have not heard of the comic or the tv show. I guess it is back to the drawing board!

    Thanks again!

Also found that there was a series of books about Huskie and Spareribs around 1949 and 1952. About two sleddogs I think.
    Called Long Lash.
    Two against the north.
I can’t find the plush. But books by SHURTLEFF, BERTRAND Indianapolis, Bobbs-Merrill.
Bobbs-Merrill has been known to make some plush, such as raggedy ann type.
Best of Luck to you. Will keep an eye open

  3. Hi; I too had a Spareribs when I was very young and would like to find one. I have a picture of me and spare ribs I think Christmas of 1956/57 or so.
I also never heard of the other toys or comic strips.
I was not sure that the name of the dog was spareribs or if the family had just called it that.
I remember him to be rather flat.
Or did he loose a lot of stuffing
    Jeff

  4. Not sure if you are still looking for this dog, but I have one. It belonged to my mother-in-law and it is about to go into a garage sale. Let me know if you are interested and we can talk!
