What personal data we collected and why we collected it
Comments
When visitors leave comments on this site we collect the data shown in the comments form. And we also save the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
Media
If you uploaded images to us, there may be embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included in those images. So visitors to the website may still be able to download and extract any location data from images.
Cookies
Because this site is built on the WordPress platform, there are several required temporary cookies used in the functioning of the pages. These cookies contain no identifying information about you. These cookies expire when your browser session ends.
If you left a comment on a search request post when Searches were actively being managed, you opted-in to saving your name, email address and possibly your website in cookies. These were for your convenience, so that you did not have to fill in your details again when you left another comment. Since the search posts are no longer live, those cookies may or may not still be in use.
When you were able to log in when the search posts were live, we set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. If you logged out of your account, the login cookies have been removed. But it is possible the cookies are still on your computer.
If you edited or published an article, an additional cookie was saved in your browser. But this cookie included no personal data and simply indicated the post ID of the article you edited.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
These websites may collect data about you. They may use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content. And they can trace your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website. As you can see, protecting your privacy online has really gotten complicated!
How we protect your data
All our websites sites are secured with Comodo certificates and SSL, as well as SiteLock. You will see https in the urls of all page addresses on all our sites. This protects you and us. It minimizes the possibility that we will be hacked or any of your information could be compromised. On our sites where you may purchase products, PayPal handles all payments. NO credit/debit card numbers of any kind are ever saved on our servers.
This site is part of a network of sites that protect against distributed brute force attacks. To enable this protection, the IP address of visitors attempting to log into the site is shared with a service provided by ithemes.com. For privacy policy details, please see the iThemes Privacy Policy.
How long we retain your data
If you left a comment, we retained the comment and its metadata indefinitely. That way we could recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
For users who registered on our website, we also stored the personal information you provided in your user profile.
