I’m looking for my childhood bear. Some tips on him~his tag is located on HIS left leg. His tag is the old green writing with orange trim around the tag. It says R. Dakin & Co. 1978. I got him in 1980; so he was available then. He measures approximately 18 inches tall. From the old picture I have from when I was 2 years old, his ears, snout, and paws on hands and feet are a lighter color (maybe even white), and the rest of his fur is or at least now is a beige color. He is NOT cuddles the bear. I have done some searching myself and come across a lot of those and it just isn’t the right one.
I have been looking on and off over the past 15+ years for a newer condition one. NO bear will replace my teddy; however I know my teddy has been through soooooooooo much! I remember as a child around the age of 4 or so that we had a kiddy pool, and I decided teddy wanted to go for a swim. He has also gotten into the bathtub with me as a child and has lost a lot of his hair and has had many surgeries! My grandmother stitched him up several times, and I vividly remember her running out of “fluff”, so she used her old knee highs in teddy’s surgery! Teddy is SUPER special. My grandmother passed away when I was 15.
I have had this teddy since I was born. My dad purchased this teddy in the hospital gift shop. From what I have been told, my parents were very strapped for cash, and he used his last bit of money to have this bear for me in my hospital crib. Teddy came home with me from the hospital and has been with me for the past 31yrs!
Now that I have children, they are aware of teddy and my oldest begs to sleep with him, because she knows how special he is. He has so many holes in him that teddy now stays at the top of my closet to keep him from getting any more damage than he already has. I will never replace this teddy; however I have a picture of him when I was 2~holding him and he was so floppy and soft looking.
I would love to find one that has not been through what all I put this one through, so I could give him to my daughters and to see what he actually should look like! Please let me know if you can help!
Thanks,
Rebecca
