I’m so glad someone has a service like this! I am desperately searching for a plush hippo I had when I was a kid. I’m pretty sure she was either a Dakin, Applause, or a Gund brand. I saw some photos online of the Dakin Lou Rankin animals, and the sad little eyes look so familiar I’m betting that the brand was Dakin.
She was sort of small, no longer than 8 or so inches and no taller than 4 or 5. She was kind of a creamish-yellowy-orange color with brown set-back eyes just like the Lou Rankin elephant. Her little legs were much shorter and fatter than the Lou Rankin grey hippo, though. She was purchased at a Noah’s Ark store probably around 1992 or 1993.
Most unfortunately, I don’t have a photo of her. I did write a children’s book for a project several years ago, and used her as the model for my illustrations, though. Here is my illustration… it was pretty realistic.
