Searching – 80’s WHITE Lying Down DUCK PLATYPUS I’M QUACKERS OVER YOU on BEAK
In 1988, I rescued a 12 inch white fluffy toy “laying down duck” with two orange flippers and an orange beak from being thrown away in a bin. He had a corny message on his beak reading “I’m Quackers Over You”.I was 9 at the time. I decided that I would give this duck the best possible life a fluffy toy could have, and take him with me wherever I went. I held to my promise, and “ducky” accompanied me on many many adventures. He has traveled all over the world, seen the sights, climbed mountains, dived oceans and slept at the head of my bed throughout school, college, university and beyond. He is in photographs of all the important events, holidays, parties and fun times I’ve ever had. There are pictures of him with all my pets, both alive and long dead. There are photos of him with ex-partners, lost relatives and friends who I have long since fallen out of contact with. He is an anchor to me, something constant throughout all the changes in my life.
After so long a time and a few near misses, I’ve now lost my ducky on a train somewhere between London and Glasgow, during a holiday in early April. I am so unbearably sad. Friends and family have tried to console me, but they understand that ducky was filled with so many deep, personal memories that I am genuinely grief-stricken at his loss. A glance at him would cast my mind back to countless memories of joy, youth and happiness. He is far more to me than just a toy, and I am now spending most of my time trying desperately to trace him.
I hope that he is somewhere safe and being cared for by a nice family, and I am praying for a miracle – that somehow he may turn up and find his way back to me. Thank you for reading. If anyone who sees this message finds ducky, please contact me!
