Do You or Did You Sleep with Stuffed Animals?
Do you sleep with a stuffed animal or doll? Or, did you ever sleep with them, if you don’t now?
Our girls both filled the bed with all their favorite soft toys and dolls, to the point that you couldn’t even see them in the bed. Very much like that E.T. scene. And now our granddaughters do the same thing.
I only remember sleeping with my favorite pair of soft crying dolls as a child.
Do you pile your bed high with them during the day, but stash them somewhere for sleeping? Do they have a special place, or do they end up all on the floor? Does anybody really use those nets that hang up in the corner?
Funny to come across your post as I was just remembering my lovely stuffed animals last night. My dog and cat and husband “framed” me in the bed last night and it reminded me of how I would place my stuffed animals all around my bed before I went to sleep as a child. A protective wall from the boogie(wo)man. As a child I felt protected. Last night I felt claustrophobic! LOL
I go to bed regularly with a cuddly dog and if all else fails and he’s not available, I have a little bunny! I’m half expecting the dog to pop his clogs very soon as my partner has a death wish on him. He keeps grabbing hold of him and pulling! Visions of the dog’s head coming off keeps floating through my mind. I have a number of cuddlies sitting on a shelf above this computer in the bedroom. My partner thinks they’re frightening. Awww bless, NOT. Lol!
Well, my stuffed toys or fav pillows usually follows me to bed. But somehow in the morning they all end up on the floor 🙂
My bed was covered in stuffed animals when I was a kid. Dogs were my favorite. Now I have about 3.
JeanC here, have to use Ms Ella’s ID to comment. I used to sleep with my BunBun, a little pink stuffed rabbit that has long lost its little felt eyes and is very threadbare. Heck, when I’m feeling really down I still grab my BunBun for comfort.

We’ve all heard of comfort foods, and let’s face it, a lot of us have comfort pals from childhood that help us through the rough times.
I never had a stuffed toy or a doll as a child. I received my very first doll at the age of 50 when my grand-daughter made me a cabbage-patch doll, which I treasure and have named Emily Margaret – the name of my imaginary childhood friend. I’d love nothing more than to have a huge, soft, cuddly teddy bear, but at my age, I’d probably look rather ridiculous hugging it!

Our view is that no one is ever too old for a soft, cuddly teddy bear.

Well – I had plenty as a child, but what’s even more fascinating to me is – I’ve got 2 boys, and they BOTH fell in love with stuffed “anything” at early ages and still have them around!
Not like they used to, but all them plushies, beanies, etc. are in plastic, in boxes, stored for their use, pleasure, children or “whatever”.
We did buy those nets when they were young, and they did toss them up when it was clean-up time!
I’m 24 years old and I still sleep with a teddy bear when my husband is away. It’s funny how much security a stuffed inanimate object can give you.
yeah, as I mentioned in response to the post above, I still sleep with a stuffed animal. It is a very ratty (but OH SO SOFT!) stuffed fox that I think I threw in my cart while going through Walgreens when I lived in San Diego. I love that little fella: I named him Scotty after my very best friend; unfortunately, my friend Scott passed away in April (one of the worst kind of ways: he was mentally unstable and killed himself), but every time I see Scotty the Fox i have to smile a little. 🙂
I slept with a panda teddy bear until I was in college. He had a pompom belly button that eventually fell off and his neck was a little wobbly. I let my nephew play with him when he was little and I never saw my teddy again.
Lisa, did your nephew just keep your teddy, or did he tear him up? I hope he just enjoyed him so much that you let him keep your panda. That would seem like the logical thing to do .. give him to a kid .. who knew you were going to miss the little guy so much, right?

OUCH!! I know that was painful for you.
Since I am the grown daughter Rosemary is talking about…I would love to sleep with Bunny FooFoo (who by the way is orange not yellow, missing an eye and his ears won’t stand up anymore…he’s beautiful) but my husband said no. I remember taking him to college and it was a little piece of home when I was so homesick (still have the bunny wish I had the degree). I can remember when I got him. We had gone to a Sunrise Service for Easter and he was on the sofa when I got back. I STILL love him as well as the parents that got him for me. I think I will have to talk to my husband about sleeping with him again (the bunny not the husband, the husband stays too).
