FOUND – WHITE / CREAM ELEPHANT with LONG ARMS & LEGS

My 4 year old son lost his plush elephant Eli. The toy is approximately 14 – 16 inches from head to toe. It has long arms, long legs and large floppy ears. It is white / ivory in color and has a rattle inside. The bottom of its feet are light blue. The elephant is not firmly stuffed, but soft and floppy. The eyes are embroidered. The texture was not furry, but a very fine, soft fuzz. I recall that the tag said “amela”, but I don’t know if this was the name of the maker, or just the name of the model.
He has had it since birth, and it has rarely left his tiny grip until a week ago. Sometime between going to the grocery store and coming home Eli was lost. My son and I went back to the store to retrace our steps. We must have stopped over 80 people – I would ask, “Excuse me, but have you seen a stuffed toy elephant?”, and my son would add, “His name is Eli”.
My son has gone through so much at a very young age; first the divorce of his mom and I, then the passing of his grandfather. Eli has been the most stable thing in his life. It breaks my heart that he cries himself to sleep each night.
I have been searching the internet for days now, and I can’t even find who the manufacture is. If I could find who made it, that would at least give me a chance to find a replacement. I would give anything to put a smile back on my son’s face.

We found one today that had that same odd shaped trunk, and it was a Baby GANZ. I had already written to suggest they look for that brand, before I even read your comment. So it’s sounding promising!

I think it is Amela I found the brand on ebay, but not the right elephant ebay Item number: 330222841889
I found lots of hits for “amela” on ebay. Very simliar looking hippos, monkeys, etc, but unfortunately, no elephants. Google had a hit for a pink and yellow amela elephant being sold a while back in Charleston, WV. Other than color, the description closely matched what you are looking for.
thank you everyone for all your suggestions and help. you are right that there are many amela plush on ebay – just no elephants. i guess the best i can hope for is that my son gets over the loss, which i am sure he will. even now he is able to talk about “eli” without coming to tears. will continue to search ebay regularly and hope for the best. will also keep my eyes open for other lost lovies and report back. thanks again. jae.
