Do You / Did You Have a REAL Lovie?

Plush Memories Lost Toy Search Service Posted on September 24, 2019 by RosemarySeptember 28, 2019

Our children had two favorite books when they were little – Corduroy and The Velveteen Rabbit. Both stories are about soft toys who became REAL lovies.

I can’t count how many times a week I read one or the other of those books to them all during early childhood. That probably explains a lot of why I prefer selling the soft cuddly kinds of lovie, rather than the hard plastic ones. Those are the kind that can become totally 100% REAL!!!

One daughter is fortunate enough to still have her childhood Flopper tucked away in her cedar chest. The other daughter was not so fortunate, as her real lovie was lost in a fire. Sad to say that I could not find another one like it, as it was already in extremely well loved condition. And we had not taken any photos of it (I know better!). But Bunny Foo Foo still lives on in memories.

Flopper was the only birthday present one year. It was very expensive and not easy for us to buy. She begged for it when she saw it in the store. And she was quite happy to accept that it would be the only gift. Bunny Foo Foo was an inexpensive Easter present one early year, but oh so loved. And both are still real lovies for both our daughters. I made a post some time ago about my own twin squalling baby dolls – who really did become real for me.

Sharing your happy and sad memories of childhood toys is what this blog is all about, so dust off those old memories and savor that moment of innocence when toys were real. There’s no need for a sound box, or moving parts, or even realistic features. All a real toy needs is lots of LOVE.

Can you share a story about your REAL lovie?

We would enjoy hearing from you.
