I am looking for a stuffed hippo from the 1960’s. It was made of corduroy and was yellow with red spots on it. It was about 6 to 8 inches from tail to mouth. Its mouth was open, and I think it had a felt tongue.
The closest I could find for body type and similar coloring is this orange swirl hippo. Naturally, mine didn’t have the swirls. The giraffe shows the material the original was made from – ribbed corduroy in yellow. My hippo had red spots instead of the giraffe’s black.
I got him as a small child going in for eye surgery. Everyone thought I’d be blind after it, which was conveyed to me, so my hippo kept me safe.
He disappeared when my husband got our belongings during our divorce. I’m hoping to find a similar replacement!
