I’m looking for a 14 inch soft plush 2007 Hallmark Heartline yellow chick with orange beak, orange 3-toed feet, and small black eyes, wearing a lavender bow tie with white polka dots. The yellow parts (head, body, wings, tail) are a short yellow “fur” – almost like velour.

Our autistic son Timmy just turned 9 last week. I received this stuffed animal as a baby shower gift before my boy was born, and Chickie became his BFF right from the start. Timmy did not leave the house without Chickie – if we even tried, a meltdown was almost guaranteed. Autism equals sensory overload, and whenever Timmy got overwhelmed (or sad, or happy, or…) he needed to kiss and hug Chickie. He sang songs about and to Chickie. He told stories to and about Chickie. He was much more attached to Chickie than to Daddy or me. 🙂

Right after Timmy turned two, we went to Chicago to visit our oldest son, daughter-in-law, and new baby granddaughter. Our last day there, we visited Lincoln Park Zoo. We lost Chickie either at the zoo or on the bus. We checked with Lost and Found for months, placed ads in the papers and on the internet, etc. I searched everywhere online, but neither Chickie, nor a replacement, could be found.

We bought another type of Chickie, which he loves. But he still talks about Chickie and sometimes cries over his loss. It’s been 7 years, and I have not given up!
