My son was born August 2002. Billy’s first gift from his uncle James arrived soon after. A large (12″) Jelly Cat bear. A beautiful, perfectly sweet and snuggly. He arrived with soft cinnamon brown fur, friendly black glossy eyes, small black stitched nose and bean bum and limbs. The quintessential bear for a .perfect boy named Billy.Billy quickly took a special liking to his new bear, and I named him Maurizio, because he looked like a friend of mine who sold pasta. Over the years Billy slept with Maurizio every nap and every night. At home, at the babysitters house or on vacation, Maurizio was Billy’s best friend and Lovey. He was an important security that comforted him every night and greeted him every morning.
That is, until last November while traveling to Pennsylvania for Thanksgiving.
Between our flights, shuttles, rental cars, restaurants and Hotel rooms I still cannot pin-point where he actually got lost. I called every lost and found … twice and could not locate him, all the while reassuring Billy that Maurizio was not lost – just misplaced – and that Mamma would find him.
Six months later, I’m still trying to find him. Well, OK not him, but a replacement “Maurizio”. To my dismay, I’ve had no luck and fortunately Billy, about to turn 6, is not crying as much any more. But hopefully his Birthday wish could finally be the trick to bring Maurizio home.
That gives me about a month to find him. Somebody please help!
Thank you!
Mimi
