We have a mailing list of people looking for this Pierre pig.
We are searching for an 18″ peach colored towel material pig filled with the type of thing in bean bags and manufactured by Manhattan Toy Company circa 2004. Manhattan Toy Company called this Pierre Pig. Tiptoes Pig is similar, but I believe was manufactured later. It has black felt-like material feet with a plaid (red and white) bow above each foot. Its snout and ears are a brown felt-like material. His eyes are sewn with black thread. My daughter was given Pierre (he has since acquired the name “Piggy”) by her great aunt when she was 6 months old, around the time of my brother’s death at the age of 24 from metastatic malignant melanoma. At the time, Piggy was around the same size as my daughter. Even at the age of 6 months she was fascinated by Piggy’s floppy ears and large snout; she would try her best to get the snout into her mouth.
Now she will not part with Piggy and takes him to school every day and to bed at night. She dresses Piggy in her own four-year-old-sized clothes. At night if my daughter wakes up she immediately looks for Piggy. If she cannot find Piggy upon waking in the morning, I must immediately stop what I am doing to find him. When my daughter is sad or upset she is distracted by conversations we have about Piggy (I voice-over Piggy), such as how he was caught by his own mama eating leftover food when his mama saw his tail poking out of the garbage can; these stories never fail to make her laugh. When we go to a new place Mya always insists upon bringing Piggy. To amuse herself she tosses him in the air and catches him. Piggy accompanies us on long road trips as my daughter’s favorite accessory no matter where we go.
I have washed Piggy in a delicate bag once, and I am afraid to do so again, because his round belly is not as perk as it used to be, although he is more dirty with each passing day. Tiptoes Pig (the most noticeable difference is his green, rather than black feet) from Manhattan Toy cannot replace Piggy–Tiptoes does not have the same soft terry material nor bean-bag-like inside and is not as cuddly nor attractive to my daughter’s toddler eye.
Thank You Kindly!
Sincerely Yours,
Laura
