We now know this 1981 bearded unicorn is Lancelot by Treasure Masters.
Xanadu had a beard, stood up, and had a wire frame inside, so the legs and tail could be posed different ways.
I’m looking for a plush white pose-able unicorn with long hair around her hooves, possibly from the late 70’s or early 80’s. I think the hair may have gone up the back of her legs a little bit, and she had a tuft of long hair at the tip of her tail. She also had a long beard. She was pose-able, as well, and I know the wires inside were coated in white plastic, because by the time she went missing one of the wires was poking out of her tail. See more description in the Comments.
She looked a lot like the classic unicorn from very old paintings and from the book and movie, “The Last Unicorn”.
I named her Xanadu, and she was my best friend for as long as I can remember. (Since I named her Xanadu, I can only assume I got her around the time the movie Xanadu came out, but that’s just a guess.) She is a long-lost lovie from my childhood. My older sister used to steal Xanadu from me and tease me about my “Unigoat” – she really did look a little like a goat, hehe.
I can’t recall what happened to Xanadu, unfortunately. I suspect my alcoholic ex-husband found her in my memory box and threw her out with some of my other childhood things. I haven’t seen her in nearly 20 years!
She’s important to me, because I’m at a point in life where I could really use some comfort. I’m suffering from a rare genetic disorder (Tuberous Sclerosis) that’s slowly taking away my mobility and freedom. I’m in pain every day, have trouble breathing, and I’ve had to stop doing a lot of the things I love, simply because I cannot physically handle them any longer. For example, I’ve had to re-home all but one of my dogs, because I can’t care for them any longer.
One of the things I’ve found some peace in is that old box of childhood memories. But the biggest part, my favorite part, is missing, and I don’t know where else to find her!
Thanks,
Charity
