Searching 60’s Pink Curled Up Musical Cocker Spaniel Disaster Priority
I’m looking for a toy Cocker Spaniel that was about 12 inches long with baby pink plush. It was lying down partially on its side. The back legs were to the side and the front legs curved towards one another beneath the chin. The body was all pink, but we think the inside of the ears were white. The ears are long.
The eyes are closed, and we don’t remember if the nose was pink or black or whether it was plastic or stitched. It originally came with a music box as part of the toy and may have played Brahm’s Lullaby, but we’re not sure. It was purchased for my sister sometime in the late 60s.
I realize this will be a difficult find. This toy belonged to my sister. Its name was Pink, and it was given to her when she was a baby, and it has been her favorite possession through to adulthood. She kept Pink in her bed even after she was married and had children.
About 10 years ago, my sister’s husband died suddenly from a heart attack. Shortly afterward, her house caught fire and burned to the ground, taking her two dogs and all of her possessions, including Pink. Of everything she’s lost, Pink is one of the things she misses the most.
I appreciate any help you can provide! Thank you so much!
Thanks,
Tanya

Well say, if I may ask please, do you remember what song Pink played?

Hi Kathy,
I asked my mother and she’s pretty sure it was a lullaby – specifically “Brahms’s Lullaby” (Lullaby and Goodnight). Granted, it could possibly be a different one given how many years it has been since we both saw the dog. I appreciate the question, thanks!

Well say, although this isn’t her, I was curious how much Pink resembled this musical Animal Fair puppy:

Hi Kathy,
Thank you for the link! It’s similar but not quite the same pooch. Pink was all pink and the legs weren’t as articulated and were sorta formed with the body itself so that the toy looked like a kidney bean. I really appreciate the help in narrowing this down! The eyes were very close!

Tanya, so did yours have felt eyelashes and the little curled up felt tongue?

My memory of the toy is about 30 years old so I’,m not entirely certain but… it may have? The eyelashes from the Ebay toy look really familiar to me but I’m not 100% about the tongue. But part of me feels it had a tongue like that too now that you bring it up.
