We have a mailing list of people looking for this elephant that is NOT Wanda.
I received a new email from Ada that might help Suzy, and maybe someone else, too!
Hey Rosemary,
Great news! I found a Scrumpty Elephant on a Jelly Cat website, and it looks closest in size 51cm and material to the floppy grey one that Suzy and I are looking for. I have ordered one, so I guess we will wait and see. The only thing is that website only delivers to a UK address, so I have to asked a friend to forward it.xo Ada
I received an email from Ada, who is sure it is a Manhattan elephant, thanks to a readable tush tag. She writes:
Hi there! I was looking for the exact elephant for my 9 month old boy, and I saw your post!! I went through the Manhattan Toy website, but I don’t think they carry it anymore.
If you know where I could find this elephant, please please please let me know.
And here’s Suzy’s request for help:
Our daughter lost her stuffed elephant in a Paris taxi, and there is no way to locate it. It was purchased for her by a friend, we believe at the Anthropologie store in Philadelphia in 2002, and we think, but are not certain, that it was made by Manhattan Toy.It is a very, very floppy, dark grey elephant with slightly lighter grey fur on his belly and the inside of his ears, with long, stringy legs and arms (the arms and legs about 10 inches long) and rounded feet. This is not a “Wanda” style elephant. Wanda is not the right color and is too plush.
The fur on the elephant we’re looking for is not really plush — it’s more nubby — like the Jellycat “Junglie” style toys, only none of the Jellycat styles on the market look like the elephant we are missing, because their limbs are too fat and the Jellycat elephants are either blue-ish or light grey, not dark grey.
If I could just figure out who manufactured this elephant, I’d call the manufacturer and plead for another at any price.
Please help,
Suzy
