I’m looking for an all cloth, seated doll in a sleeper (blue terrycloth) body and hood. The body is sturdy for a stuffed doll and sits up on its own. The body is sort of fat. The face is peach silk and trimmed in white lace. The face has blue-purple eyes, peach line eyebrows, peach lined smile, red oval nose and rosy cheeks. The face is flat and is printed on the silk. The hands are made of the same peach silk. The doll has a white terry cloth bib that had red velvet letters reading I Heart U.
I think it was made by AmToy, because it is similar to the AmToy Clown’s face, but it is also similar to Fisher Prices Baby Soft Touch, which I also had several of. The doll came in baby blue, pastel pink and yellow. My mom thinks she bought it at KB Toys. It was a birthday gift in Nov 1985 (or maybe a few year after that). It had a white silk tag that is long gone. I’ve been looking more and the body type seems similar to Little Darlin’s Darlings. I found that those dolls were made by Meritus and sold at KB Toys, but my search ends again there.
You see she is quite loved. Any help you can offer is greatly appreciated. 🙂 If anyone knows were I can find the doll, or even just a better picture of what it looked like, I would greatly appreciate it. No one remembers the doll. My mom even went back to the store just a few weeks after she gave it to me for my b-day to buy a back up doll, and they were all gone and the store employees had no idea what she was talking about! After that, my Granny wrote all the major toy companies looking to buy a pattern or a picture to try to remake the doll for me, but they had no record of it.
Sometimes I think I’m the only ”big” kid on the planet that ever had or loved this doll! It’s been a mystery ever since! I’d love to have a picture or a second doll to prove that I’m not crazy and to show my husband what she looked like – because she’s pretty beat up and was the sweetest little doll. There are plenty of similar dolls, but none match it perfectly; there is something special about it. It would really mean a lot to me to have another one.
Thanks for your time,
