THANK YOU SO MUCH! he sleeps with it right beside his bed along with boo boo Brothers (the entire boo boo collection) lol.THANK YOU AGAIN.ps I framed your card. God Bless you.
We have a vintage bear in stock that has the tear in the eye and a bandage with Booboo Teddy written on it, so I sent the photo to Vince, with the tush tag information, and the link to what I guessed were the same line of toys on eBay.
I wanted you to know that you have been so helpful and have gotten me closer to finding my furry friend than I ever have been. When you mentioned Applause it’s like a lightbulb went off. I have found out (thanks to your help) that the series was actually called BooBoo by Applause (Ganz) and was manufactured from 1983 to 1990.
I have just acquired the Boo Boo Teddy Bear and the Boo Boo Mouse, I’m still bidding on the Boo Boo Monkey…
Vince is looking for the PENGUIN like this Applause BooBoo Monkey.
But still no Penguin. I thought that maybe if this info was added to the blog it might help my chances of finding the one I am desperately looking for. I’m crossing my fingers. Thank you so much!
I am actually trying to find a plush toy that I had when I was a child and lost in a house fire that wiped out everything when I was 8 years old.
More about my penguin… It was purchased for me when I was one year old by my father while I was having surgery. Possibly it was from the hospital gift shop, but there was also a Toys’R’Us nearby as well (my father didn’t say where he bought it.) It was a more cartoon looking penguin in the sitting position (he couldn’t stand up, had very little legs.)
It was the typical black and white with very short hair (not that frizzy stuff I have seen on most of today’s plush penguins)… almost like a teddy bear would have. The two eyes were rather big for the little face, and the left eye had a tear in it. A little orange beak with a black line across it for the mouth and a cast around its “Broken” arm that said “BooBoo”. And he was probably 7″ or 8″ tall.
I can’t remember exactly what the tag said, but through my research I believe that it is part of the Russ Emotions series. And the year it was bought was around 1984 – 1985. The reason I think it was a part of this series was because of the general look and feel of BooBoo, the tear in his eye, and the cast around his arm.
I hope that I gave enough info. I will try to find a picture. God Bless.
Thank You,
Vince
